The inaugural Jack Myers Champions for Mercy Golf Tournament was a great success surpassing all goals. The event took place Friday, April 27 at Eagle Harbor Golf Club. More than 100 golfers hit the links with a 1 pm shotgun start on a beautiful Chamber of Commerce day. Jack Myers, host, and Mike Serig, Board Chair, welcomed the participants. Patrick Hayle, Mercy’s Executive Director, offered the invocation.
Several contests were held including: Hole-in-One opportunities for a potential $20,000 Prize, sponsored by Gordon Chevrolet; Closest to the Pin; Longest Drive; Putting Contest and a Goofy Photo Contest. Golfers were also given the opportunity to purchase Mulligans and Gorilla throws to help bolster their scores. At the end of the day, the winning score of 54 (18 under Par) took the top prize. The winning team, sponsored by Vallencourt Construction, was Mike Vallencourt Sr., Mike Vallencourt Jr., Dan Vallencourt and George Egan. The winning team received $100 gift certificates from Master Fit Golf.
Our inaugural event success was due to the support given by our event sponsors, product donors, volunteers and golf participants.
Special recognition to our planning committee: Jim Dion, Mike Youngblood, Lori Gunn, Jon Cantrell, Parveen Hughes, Janey Fox, Stephanie Hewett, Sophie Dentiste, Allen Berry, Steve Conrad, Patrick Hayle and Jeff Boyer.
Proceeds from the Golf Tournament will support Mercy’s programs for displaced families and children in Clay County.
