It Was A Grand Time At The 5th Annual Champions For Mercy Gala

The 5th Annual ‘Champions for Mercy’ Gala was a great success, surpassing the prior year’s in both attendance and dollars raised.  Over 200 guests attended the Gala, and the event exceeded its fundraising goal.  This year’s theme ‘Light the Path to Self-sufficiency’ was certainly well received and appropriate, spotlighting two (2) Mercy Program graduate families, who shared their stories. For many, that was the highlight of the evening.

Lindsey Boetsch of First Coast News, our Emcee, expertly moved the evening along interjecting little known facts about Mercy.  Van Royal, Honorary Chair, kicked off the event with a meaningful message on serving as opposed to helping, those in our community with the greatest needs.  Several Board Members gave presentation identifying needs in Clay County and how Mercy is addressing those needs.

John Ashmen, President of Citygate Network, was the Keynote Speaker.  John spoke of the many issues we are facing around the country with homelessness, and presented factors that have elevated the numbers of homeless in our cities.  His message provided a great insight to the growing needs we have around the country and applauded the Gala attendees for their support of Mercy and the needs in Clay County.

The 2018 Gala not only exceeded attendance numbers from prior years, but raised $20,000 more than 2017.  This year’s goal was $70,000, and we are excited to announce we raised nearly $77,000.

Thank you to all of our Lead Sponsors, Table Sponsors, donors, volunteers and guests who made the event a resounding success.  Special thanks to our Gala Committee: JoLynn Carter, Rosemary Belock, Susan Bell, Jennifer Boyer, Andrea Fogarty, Lori McDade and Connie Vance.
