photo of teens sleeping in boxesHave you ever thought about what it would be like to be homeless?  Or, what a homeless person’s life is like – what they eat, where they sleep?  MSS is working with local church/organization ‘youth groups’ to simulate the life of a homeless person.  Clay County youth will be given the opportunity to spend a night learning about homelessness.  Here is what they will learn:

  • Spend night sleeping in a box – building a homeless village
  • Prepare dinner and breakfast like a homeless person
  • Participate in a variety of ‘interactive stations’ learning about the homeless
  • Pray for the homeless

Each person/youth will recruit a minimum of 5 sponsors.  Youth will be given fact sheets to share with each sponsor about the children and families that are homeless in Clay County.  Also, sponsors will be asked to donate a minimum of $10 to support the work of MSS in Clay County. The goal is to promote awareness by recruiting 10 church/organization youth groups.  Each youth will share their story with 5-10 sponsors (goal: 1000 people hear about the homeless and what is being done in Clay County).  All funds that are donated will go directly to programs to help children and families become self-sufficient. If you are interested in learning more, please contact MSS at 297-4052.
