As you know, Mercy has a heart to serve the local Clay County community and spread the love of Jesus wherever and however the Lord provides us an avenue to do so. We also believe that, regardless of where each of us may choose to worship weekly, WE together are the church, the body, the hands and feet of Jesus. We are one heartbeat, brothers and sister in Christ, of one accord, desiring to serve, love and have a Kingdom size impact here on earth that glorifies our God.
The heart of our outreaches are to:
- Build relationships within the communities of Clay County (People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care!)
- Over time, to eradicate the stereotypes and divisions that have been planted in the minds of the lost, and even some believers, by the enemy. These are very difficult times we are living in right now. The enemy is taking full advantage of these times to cause people to not go to or give up on “church.” To even give up on believing there is hope or genuinely loving Christ followers anymore. WE have an opportunity, in the territory God has placed us in, to say “not on our watch!” If they won’t come to us, let’s go to them. We will demonstrate unity, love and the one true HOPE that exists only in Jesus through our coming together as local ministries and churches in Clay County! How exciting that WE get to be chosen as His hands and feet to show the love of Christ, serve and be a part bringing the light of Christ to our county…….together, as a unified body of believers!
- These times of outreach are also a time of fellowship for US, as brothers and sisters in Christ. It’s encouraging, refreshing, rejuvenating and healthy for us to come together as believers. To get outside of our individual 4 walls of worship and go into the world around us. We are called to! (Acts 1:8) It’s also a most beautiful thing to build friendships and relationships with one another. It’s good for our soul! (Hebrews 10:24, Proverbs 27:17)
So, now what?
Mercy Support Services has met with the incredible management at Woods of Filmore, who are also THRILLED about this new outreach. Celebration Church has agreed to help us host this outreach every 2nd Sunday of the month; us meaning Mercy and all the churches who come out to be a part of these awesome, community building events. So please accept this as your invitation to be a part of what God is going to do in and through these events throughout 2019. We would LOVE you and your ministries to be a part.
After reading this, I hope that you will prayerfully consider being a part. You need only to show up and be ready to fellowship with others, that’s it! God will do the rest. I envision Him opening the opportunity to really get to know people, possibly some hurting people. To love on them and pray with them, have life changing interactions and even build some beautiful friendships. But we need to trust Him to guide us. And He will. When we show up, He shows up and guides the rest of the way.
You do not have to commit to every month, but we do hope to see you there! The outreach will be every 2nd Sunday of the month from 2pm-4pm at Woods of Filmore, 622 Filmore Street, Orange Park, FL 32065. Meet in the community courtyard area, just to the side of the office by the lake. We ask for volunteers to come a little early to help set up or stay a while afterwards to help break down/clean up. Many hands make for light work.
You can be a part of these outreach efforts by attending, donating toward the cost of the outreaches, sharing event ideas, and most importantly PRAYING. Or all three! If you have any questions or would like to hear more about what we are doing, don’t hesitate to contact me.
I’m excited to meet many new brothers and sisters! I’m excited for fellowship! I’m excited to see the love of Christ touch others! I’m excited to see us ALL come together to be that city on a hill who’s light will shine for the rest of the world! (Matthew 5:14)
We love you all, are blessed to serve alongside each of you and can’t wait to see God continue to move in 2019! Hope to see you all there after worshipping and serving IN our perspective churches, as we then take THE CHURCH out to the people and continue to fellowship together!
